Becoming an FCI Host Family
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
There is currently an urgent demand for host families who reside in North Vancouver. We are also regularly recruiting families who reside in Burnaby, New Westminster and Vancouver. If you reside in other areas, please contact Nina Hoppe at +1 778-887-9534 before you apply.
There is a three-step process to become approved for hosting international students or visitors through FCI:
- You must first complete and submit our online Host Family Application.
- An immediate acknowledgement of receipt will be sent by email following your submission. Within 7 – 10 days a second email will be sent to confirm your suitability for our program and will advise as to whether an interview will take place.
- Please await instructions from FCI regarding further documents that will be needed before the actual interview takes place. For example, a Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required prior to an interview. All adult members of the household who are 19 years of age or older must arrange to complete the CRC at your cost. Please ensure that this includes a Vulnerable Sector Check as some students may be under the age of majority (19 years) in British Columbia. We do accept copies but it will depend on how old the CRC is and if a Vulnerable Sector Check was completed. A printable request form on our company letterhead will be forwarded to you to take to your local police department. Some police departments will not require this request form but will require our company name and address.
If you have any questions relating to hosting an international student or the process of becoming a host family, please contact Nina Hoppe by email ([email protected]) or by cell (+1 778-887-9534).
Once approved, a host family will remain in good standing based on compliance with FCI’s Hosting International Students: Terms and Conditions and General Standards of Practice document.
